The hypocrisy is wanting the union refs back on the job while touting the Fox news, anti-union line.

Let me put it in terms you can understand. You go to a deli and order a Pastrami on rye, then ask the clerk to hold the pastrami. You are against pastrami. But you can't have that sandwich without it.

The point here is that he wanted the best professionals on the field. They happen to have a union but that doesn't mean that since he wants them back he by default somehow supports the union. Anyone with an ounce of functioning logic would understand this.

Hardly. Wages have continued to go up. Usually at about 3-3.3% pace until the recent recession. Then it has slowed. But like I said, a larger supply of labor explains that.

Raw wages have increased, yes. But the more important thing is the buying power of the dollar. Someone making $6,000 in 1960 is obviously making less money than someone making $20,000 in 2012; 20>6. But $6,000 went a lot farther in 1960 than $20,000 goes today in terms of what you could buy with it; you could get a car and put a 20% down payment on a house with money left over. Good luck doing that with $20,000 today.

Now that's not a realistic example, because $6,000 was not the average wage in 1960, nor is $20,000 the average wage today. But average wages, relative to inflation, have been steadily declining since 1970. That's all based around the buying power of the dollar, which is the only measure of wealth that really matters. Who cares if you earn more on paper if the cost of everything means you can effectively buy less?

No problem with organized labor. Big problem with government unions. If a regular company has union labor, it can fail and a non-union company can replace it. Not so for government.
