Patriot Memory

Just wondering if it's good or not, seeing as Monarch has a nice deal on it.

2x1GB (2-3-2-5) DDR400 - $232

Is there something I should know about Patriot memory? Or do they just like to sell at low prices?

Just a new company, hence the speculation that's going around about Patriot.

Good memory. Using the same chips as the OCZ Platinum and Mushkin High Performance 2gb kits. If you check outpost.com, I believe the same set is $199.

I have the 512 XBL sticks in my 2 3500+ systems, they run perfect.

I'll be getting those 1gig sticks thursday to go in my 3700+ build...

I think because they are a new company that they are trying to provide a better value than the more established brands..

I am running those in my system now. Mild OC running 208MHZ at the timings listed, havnt tried to push it much more yet.

I have the 2 X 512 XBLK Patriot sticks in a different system at 260Mhz for about 6 months. I have been very happy with this brand so far.

I have the same RAM sticks that you're listing and they're great. Work as advertised with my 3200+ Venice at 2-3-2-5. I've gotten Patriot memory for my last 3 upgrades and they've all been great. Highly recommended from me, and it's made in the USA too.

Good stuff -- don't spend money on marketing passes off that savings to you unlike many other memory marketing companies.

Get the XBL, I skipped and got the cheaper patriot which doesn't do much on overclocking.

I have the cheap stuff. It SUCKS. Can't run DDR 400 at stock timings. I had to lower it to DDR333 to keep the cas 2. Would be faster, but my krap-e-board doesn't have enough dividers. Won't run at all at 265 mhz.

Alright, thanks guys. I'm hoping to be able to run 1:1 DDR510 (255mhz FSB)...hopefully will be able to. But if not, 2-3-2 at stock timings is definitely good enough for me.

I believe Crucial makes the only 1GB sticks that can overclock 1:1 a significant amount. They're mad expensive though. You have to decide if the tradeoff is worth it going to 2GB, because almost all of them won't overclock. It already takes some fine RAM to run at 2-3-2

Exactly, the non XBL is junk. Anything over 200, my Abit AV8 defaults at 204, causes instability. I have to crank it back to one under 200, or with a divider under 200.

If you get patriot, get the XBL. It's cheaper thanthe other name brand modules, but of course with the same performance.
