He has pancreatic cancer. I figured he wouldn't be around for long. The survival rate is quite grim.

I don't know why, but I occasionally confuse him with the guy from 'As Good as it Gets'. He was awesome in 'Ghost'.

he was in "the outsiders"...and "roadhouse"...and "red dawn"...

He was in Red Dawn? Yikes, all these years and I didn't know he swung that way.

Nobody puts cancer in a corner.
So far at least Lance Armstrong seems to have!

I don't know how much he "put it in a corner" when it took off with one of his nuts.

Well at least he's got a spare, I'd call that getting away cheap.

Having seen someone wither away from pancreatic cancer I'll give up a nut any day of the week to avoid that fate.

Don't forget he also had lung and brain cancer as well at the same time that went into remission.

Reminds me of when the Tabloids claimed Bob Hope was on his death bed........ for 5 years before he eventually died.

Honestly, I think the only thing that would suck worse than this would be going through it with all this press coverage...

Give the guy and his loved ones some respect and privacy.

Ya... there was a reason I only said "Ghost";). Ok, I haven't seen Outsiders or Roadhouse. I've seen him in Red Dawn (just don't like the movie that much), and the Vietnam one about the prisoners. He was still great, despite the ambivalence I feel towards those other movies.

Not my favorite actor, but one of the good guys. Been married for over 30 years to his first (and only) wife, damn rare in hollywood.

I didn't know he was 56, damn he is old.

55 is not old.

Sometimes, especially when I crawl out of bed in the morning, I'd disagree with you on that one...

I was surprised to hear how poorly he's doing. The last thing I had heard was that the cancer was in remission. I hadn't heard about the pancreatic cancer.
I've never heard of anyone beating that shit.

I just lost an aunt to pancreatic cancer. It was the worst to see what it did to her and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. She fought it for ten months and was doing pretty well, and then things went to shit in one month and she was gone.

It's terrible for any family to deal with it and I wish the Swayze family the very best in the coming month. They'll need it.

I wouldn't put too much faith into that article. They list their source telling this to the National Enquirer.

Actually, if you research it, the NE is far more accurate than most give it credit for. They got tired of being sued years ago and now are very particular about what they print.

Maybe they are going to get sued again!
