Pathetic 3D Mark 05 scores on my new rig

Have a A64 3200+ Newcastle
1gig corsair pc3200 ddr400
9800 radeon pro 128mb

just ran 3D Mark 05 and I only got a pathetic 1335 Marks, what the hell? Is there something wrong? I was expecting much better.

3dmark05 is much harder to get high scores on it, try running 3dmark03, you will be much happier with the numbers it gives you!

Yup I guess, but scores this low even on 05? People are getting 1700 on a XP2500 and a 9700 on stock, my rig should go much higher than that, could something be wrong?

That is just what you get with a 9800 pro. I have the same card, actually I have almost the same rig, and I got a very similar score. It probably sounds worse then it is, a 6800 GT gets about 4500, while the x800 xt pe gets around 5500 give or take a couple hundred.

3dMark05 is relatively new, what do you get with 3dMark03?

Just trying to find out if you have a system problem. Since 05 is so new, there is less of a baseline. With 03 you should be in the ~6000 range

with a barton core XP at 1900MHZ, 512 MB of pc3200 Crucial RAM, Biostar M7NCD and Radeon AIW9800 PRO 128MB, I got 2389 on 3DMark05...something is up with your rig.

i'd say you have some kind of driver prob cause at stock with same video card and a slower processor i get in the 2400 range

Have you insalled new drivers over a clean system. Are you running a 1T command rate. Is this a fresh OS install. Were you running other apps concurrently. Is your chips underclocked...

So many varibles you need to troubleshoot...

Make sure you have AA/AF turned off. I didn't bother trying with '05, but I know in '03 and '01 it makes a difference.

P4 2.6, 2gb 3200 and 9800 PRO 256meg I get 2,267 marks.

Exactly, I really have NO idea what is wrong, I should be getting much higher...and also dont know how to figure out the root of the problem.

Also, a question, Will having poor 3dmark05 scores be affecting the games I run? I had no problem running doom3 or flightsim04 at pretty high settings. Does this low score mean that my rig is giving out less performance for my games?

Things to verify:

1) Newest chipset drivers
2) AA / AF disabled
3) you don't have a 128 bit card.
