PATH or Path?

I am trying to add the javac location to my Path variable, but I see people online saying to add it to the PATH variable rather than Path. I do not see a PATH variable but I do see a Path variable. These are the same thing right?

What operating system are you using? On many flavors of *nix (all that I'm familiar with, but God knows there are hundreds), yes, the environment variable is named PATH.

According to this environment variables are case insensitive on Windows.

It is "Path" on my xp machine.
