Do you get dishonor points if you attack and kill somebody who's lower lvl than you?

no, you get HONOR points for this, so long as they are green or higher

if they are grey, you can kill them and... well... get no honor points or dishonor points

At least you can log on and play. If I login after 5 I get about 3 minutes before the connection is dropped. From what I've found, Blizzard isn't doing much to fix this problem that myself and others are having.
Are you on a high population server? I was fine when I first started playing, I had some problems about a month ago when they let transfers in, but for the last three weeks (unless a patch just came out), everything has been fine.

I'm on Uther, which generally isn't that high. I've noticed that spawning into Crossroads for example, I'll be invisible and everyone will be naked for the short duration before being dropped. Frustrating.

Oh also, last night I spawned into the Inn at xroads, walk out, and the whole town's been wiped out. There were a couple NEs running away. That was frusterating too because they killed the bat handler so I couldn't get out of the area. (to maybe save myself from getting dropped)
Have you tried Blizzard tech support? That's not right. I don't know anyone else that has that problem. Are you on dial-up?

I'm on cable. Tech support is the next step.

I went into the forums at the offical site, it looked like people were having similar problems with lag. It looked like blizzard's response was "check for spyware, virus scan, renew IPs... etc" Which I've done. meh.. I lost hope last night.

See here.

Edit: actually, it might be my router As seen here

That's kind of lame. How do you get dishonor points?

You post on a computer hardware's message board - the same as I - and you're telling me to get a life? Wake up. You're a computer geek just like the rest of us.

I love people like you that post on here and don't think you're like everyone else.

Nope. Not unless they're a "citizen" in a town, or a grey person.

What's the difference between playing a video game for a few hours every weeknight, rather than watching TV?

if you are 'accidentally' clicking on the human players instead of the targets you are trying to fight, please don't ever come into an instance with me...be more careful!

When you're in an area where everyone's trying to get the guys as soon as they pop, it's possible to click on another player on accident. I get a little over-zealous and click wrong.

I was under the impression that dishonor has not been implemented at ALL yet

if anyone is interested, check out the worldofwarcraft forums for much more bitching about this. I would but it is blocked at work

If you kill someone who is grey to you or kill a Citizen NPC, it tallies a Dishonorable kill. Right now though, those don't do anything.

Personally, I think they need to tighten down the "killable" window to maybe ±3-5 levels instead of the way it is now. A level 60 can get honor from a level 50 and the level 50's attacks will have little effect on the level 60 because he's 10 levels higher.

On most servers, you can get to level 15 without leaving your own zones (where even on a pvp server you have to attack first to be attacked by the enemy faction). You can almost hit 30 in "safe" zones (ie: zones that are contested but close enough to your own territory that the enemy leaves you alone).

The 30-40 zones are semi-hard to quest in. They're more "dangerous" and I imagine after this patch, they're even worse on pvp servers

Sounds like whining to me, and I'm loathe to call people on whining since it's a term so commonly used by children to describe anyone who doesn't agree with them... But that's what it honestly sounds like to me. The real reason the patch sucks is it all but forces PvP on PvE servers. Want to group? Raid? No luck - everyone's too busy "l33tly pwnz0ring teh n00bl4rz" in PvP, even on PvE servers.

A few things:

1) Take this to the software forum - there is already a WoW 1.4 patch thread.

2) I'm trying real hard not to give you the standard "Hello Kitty: Online" link that most people give to complainers like yourself. You play on a PvE server (just like me.) You can't be attacked unless you a) attack some else first b) stroll into an enemy faction city, or c) manually turnj on your PvP flag. It's no one's fault but your own for engaging in PvP.

3) Try the "tab" key to target the nearest enemy. You're level 40 and haven't 'discovered' this by now?

4) I lied ;)

Maybe I'm missing something, but all your bitching can be prevented very easily. Just toggle it off, wait 5 minutes while youre dead, and go on your merry way.
