Patch fix for Watch dogs stuttering on GPU's with 3gb's or less of Vram?

I'd really like to try this game, make my system stretch it's legs, but not at $60. I have 16GB of fast memory, two SSD's in RAID0, a 3GB video card, and eight FX Vishera cores currently at 5.3+Ghz. Maybe when it hits the value bin. For me I doubt it would be little more than a technical curiosity, it should make for a good benchmark for my system if nothing else.

Based on what i've seen so far this will be a steam sale purchase for me. Better to let everyone else deal with the performance issues and anguish from purchasing this bait and switch of a game. By the time it ends up on my system it will be patched and running better so win win for me.

with msi coming out with 6gb 280x's, 2gb or 3gb for future gaming is not enough. Sure another year or two but high end performance will suffer if they come out with anything less than 4gb.

I still think that is dependent on resolution and settings.

The majority of gamers are still playing at 1080p and while watchdog seems to be the exception. I think it matters more for those on 1440 screens and above.

There really is no such thing as future proofing when it comes to videocards to be honest. You buy the best card you can afford and adjust your game setting accordingly until said card no longer gives you playable framerate in all your games not just one.

Of course this is just my opinion, what I find acceptable may be different for you and vice versa.

Well, you need to define "future proofing" and this isn't the place for that. I can say though that people who bought 7970's way back when are able to enjoy max settings on this game and people with cards with 2gig can't. I would be far more likely to add a second 7970/280X to a machine today than a 680/770. That would be even if nVidia allowed mixed SLI if I had a 680 and wanted to SLI with a 770, which you can't. Definitely more options for continuing to get further into the future with Tahiti.

+1 I agree

No stuttering on my 7950@1080MHz with 1440P Ultra Textures/High Settings/Temporal SMAA I get 40-50FPS with no noticeable dips, using 14.6 Beta drivers. Even though it's not quite 60FPS I haven't had any issues while playing, driving and shooting feel fine. Fiddled around a bit and I'd rather have the visual quality of my listed settings than a higher framerate. After playing for quite a bit with Ultra textures there is a noticeable dip in driving around visuals with just High textures.

3GB should be enough for Ultra Textures up to 1440P resolution.

What CPU?

i5-3470 with 3.8GHz 4 core turbo.

Sounds about right, playing smoothly on my rig too, found that the disk made a big difference. Driving seems to require a lot of streaming, things like the random people's background data, as well as textures. I recommend playing the game from an SSD before buying a new graphics card.
