It can, but I set mine to notify me about new updates. I do not like programs updating without my consent. There are times, I may not like the update ... for ex: to the latest opera from opera V12 (new version is horrid)

Doesn't Flash auto update?

I am unsure if it's just the MSI package but mine (NPAPI plug-in) has not auto-updated for a long while. Clicking on the download notification just takes me to the download page on Adobe's site.

It is supposed to but i've noticed that it doesn't always do that. Sometimes it doesn't between major versions even though you set it to and other times it just doesn't for whatever reason or it prompts you that a new version is available so you may end up having to manually install it. I've seen this happen on many pcs, even my own.

It would be great if they had a single installer for both activeX and nonactiveX versions if you use both, and if it were to update more seamlessly.

It would also be nice if they let you select which browser or directory to install it to. Some versions of Opera (like 12.18) and maybe the newer ones, Flash does not install correctly and files have to be copied over into the proper Opera Directory as listed by this web link.
