PATA compatibility

can i put in a PATA hard drive into my old 900 mhz computer? this thing is like 3 years old... will it be compatible? are PATA hard drives just IDE hard drives with 16 mb cache and that's it?

PATA (Parallel ATA) just means it has a standard ribbon cable interface, as opposed to a SATA (Serial ATA) interface. Yes it will be compatible.
