PAT not in use when all 4 DIMMs are populated?

I was reading this review on 3dXtreme and I saw this quote on the 2nd page

Initally we populated all four DIMM slots with 1 GB of pc3200 running in Dual Channel mode. We later found out that the Intel Canterwood Chipset doesn't support Performance Acceleration Technology when populating four slots. Unfortunatly this appears to be a limitation of the Intel Canterwood Chipset.

Is this true? If so anyone know why? What about the GA-8IK1100 that I have that has 6 DIMM slots? Not realy worried about it, I'm just curious. I didn't see this in any other 875P review.

Well that sucks! :disgust: I was planning on using 2x512 but I'd like everything to work the same at 4x512 too. Hmmm, I hope someone has something wrong here. :disgust:

Exaclty. I just got 2x256MB for now and was planning on getting either 2x512MB or 2x1024MB in a few months or so. I still haven't found out any information about this yet. I e-mail Gigabyte support but have not gotten a response yet.

From what I understand, to use PAT, you must meet the following:

Use an 800 MHz FSB CPU (overclock above that is OK)
2 sticks of DDR (not 4)
Run 1:1 ratio. (5:4, 3:2 disable PAT)

Are the first and the second conditions true? Where did you hear that? This sucks, I'm using an IC7 with a 533FSB CPU and 4:5 divider...

Look at the mainpage of HardOCP to see there is a slight penalty from 4 sticks but that PAT is not disabled. Apparently a defective DFI implementation, not an i875 flaw.

I saw that. Good news! I womder if there is any truth to 5:4 disabling PAT as well?

Why would you use a 5:4 with a 533 MHz FSB?

I hope it gets fixed because I was planning on getting the DFI board if the reviews for it turn out fine... otherwise I think I'll go for the Asus P4P800 or something.
