Okay, in my defense, I likely have not had what you all would call "quality" pastrami. Don't get me wrong, I love pastrami, and I'm pretty sure a couple weeks ago I had a pastrami sandwich every day, but sometimes pastrami smells like shitty hot dogs.

Isn't pastrami the same cut as roast beef but it's cured/brined? I'm thinking it's a round roast (beef butt) for the cut.
