More great news from the .. you know...religion!

A FUNDAMENTALIST church pastor had sex with two of his teenage daughters to educate them on how to be good wives, a South Australian court has heard.

Hm, eight and a half years, eligible for parole in four. Nice to know that this guy will see justice.

I think the prisoners will see to that.

Personally that isn't very reassuring. Being raped in that context isn't justice, it's just an unfortunate side effect of imprisonment. Prison rape should be stamped out by all ethical and practicle means, in my opinion. Also, more importantly, proper justice should be meted out in the first place.

Good grief, one could almost be tempted to think you might be moral. How odd.

Meanwhile somewhere in Africa hundreds of pre-teen girls are getting their clitoris' cut out. You know. For the good of the family.

Abuse has many faces unfortunately. Poor kids ugh

Agreed.

Lets hope

See, I don't like this. How can we be sure that the prisoners will rape him sufficiently. I mean, the prisoners are not actually accountable to anyone, and the fact they are prisoners in the first place makes me very skeptical that they are significantly capable of doing anything correctly. How can we trust these prisoners to carry out a proper punishment?

I don't think we should trust them to do the job right. If they don't, this rapist might get out of jail and not be deterred enough to prevent him from raping other people.

That's why I think that he should be raped by the judge after his trial. The judge is at least accountable to the people. If the judge doesn't rape the rapist well enough, he could be replaced by another judge that is better at raping.

It's all about accountability.

I think we owe it to our children to make sure these rapists are raped good enough.

Which religion are you referring to? The article didn't refer to one. Dude sounds more like a David Koresh, cult leader than anything else.

Wait, what? You're *not* supposed to have sex with your Teenage daughters to teach them about sex??

10 years eh? Was he giving out a Diploma at the end??

Many of the child rapists in U.S. prisons seem to have a lot of accidents i.e. falling down stairs, getting hands slammed in doors, free weights dropped on their feet. After a few broken bones, most finish their sentences in a type of protective custody that amounts to solitary confinement. Then the guards can harass/abuse them out of sight of witnesses.

Hmmm, I could see this happening in America... Especially how poor sex ed is these days... oh wait... It already did happen here.. more then once too... Sad...Sad...Sad... Bad christain....

Now I agree that having sex with a minor is disgusting... I don't really believe we should torture our inmates... I really don't care what they are in there for... But "abusing" an animal is just wrong...

First of all, I'm not a christian.

Second of all, you misspelled christian.

Finally, do we really have to break down to this silly stage of intellect to say this kinda stuff is bad? Does it make what he did better or worse because he is supposedly "christian"?

Do commie dictators and their "people first, its all for the greater good" slogans while they slaughter their own people make what they do any more or less deplorable?

The sad state of intellectual affairs in this thread is pathetic.

The man is quite clearly mentally ill. Religions of all types seem to attract a disproportionate share of psycho sexual types. Its not a slam against religion or the vast majority of fine people who practice the religion, its just a fact of life. They justify it somehow in their own mind and then bring God along for the ride.

How is this somehow different from other human depravities? He got caught and society brought things under rapid control which is sadly too rare.

But we can't punish away mental illness and 4 or more years later we have to worry what happens when he gets back on the street.

The court heard that the man had sex with his daughters for nearly a decade from 1991 when they were aged 13 and 15 at the family property.

Judge Lovell gave full credit for the man's guilty pleas, saying he was genuinely remorseful and had a good chance of rehabilitation as his wife and the church remained supportive.

How come I don't believe him being remorseful after doing it for nearly 10 years?

Systematically raping the two girls for 10 years, and then suddenly feeling remorse after he gets caught? Sure...

They should reserve that 8 years prison sentence for the 'supportive' wife and church, and just send this guy to Iraq to serve as human shield.

Or at least the rash of teachers being reported for it.

Wait a minute. His Prison Sentence is SHORTER then the length of time he commited the crime?

WTF?

Yeah, that's sad really. Espeically since the odds of reforming sexual criminals is dismal.

I'm sure he's remorseful he got caught.
Instead of 8 years, what he deserved was castration and life in a small dark hole. Lucky for him judges today seem to see who can out do the last judge with shorter prison terms.

And they wonder why the public demands manditory prison sentences...

A couple of points not clarified by the article: What did the two daughters happen to think/feel about all this? Was it consensual or forceful? Admittedly, minors cannot give consent by definition, but if the crimes took place over 10 years, they were no longer minors toward the end of the time period. Secondly, were they such poor students that it took them 10 years to learn how to have sex?
