- you are the problem for pointing it out
- both parties are the same
- you are pointing this out because you want to feel superior
- at least they aren't blowing up buildings
- the Democrats created the KKK
- Social Justice Warriors are too sensitive
- I don't see anyone getting angry over the calling for killing Straight people....
- Of course, no one is concerned over the murders in Chicago... what a bunch of liberal racists....

Did I miss anything?

Benghazi

So because some idiot makes idiotic remarks that makes it ok to bring in 20 million illegals from leftist nations to vote for handouts to pay for the bringing in of 20 million more leftist voters? OK

And lets cast all non D Christians in the same mold as this whackjob; all conservative Christians are subhuman evil incarnate. But DON'T YOU DARE! lump all Muslims in the same mold as that infinitesimal minority of extremists doing all that nasty stuff.

For the record, that pastor is a complete and utter tool, and I know PLENTY of conservative Christians who would say the same.

<we return you now to yet another lib circle-jerk>

Well, it IS in the Bible. No surprise that there are Christians that follow Christianity. What with them being Christians.

Now, if the guy was a Jainist, I'd be a bit shocked.

We have a problem in this country.. it's called Muslims.

Thats religion.

opiate for the masses. Nobody wants to think about non existence so we built up this giant facade to deal with it. Pretty funny and really dumb.

It's funny, right up until you read what the texts contain, and the actions of those that actually follow the texts.

At that point, it's harrowing.

than it is you, your friends and any other sane conservative christians responsibility to turn your party around and get rid of the crazy nutters currently at the top.

Republicans Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal and Ted Cruz were guests at "religious freedom" event led by a pastor who preaches that homosexuality should be punished with death
Sounds bad until you realize that Christians think ALL who have sinned should be punished by death and that it is "but for the grace of God" that they are saved from that death "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

Not sure the original context because I certainly didn't see it, but it doesn't sound like it was anything like she presented it. It's clearly being presented as hate instead of a message of salvation. It sounds like something most Christians believe even about themselves (do they "hate" themselves?) but deliberately taken out of context to fan the flames of rubes who don't realize what she's doing.

Most Christians are preaching God's mercy for sins and welcoming homosexuals the same as any other "sinner" seeking forgiveness, including themselves. The only possibly offensive part is that they consider homosexuality a sin but being upset with that is the same as being upset with all Christians (it's in their doctrine and they don't get to pick and choose). We already knew those three were Christians. 🙄

Deliberately playing on people's unfamiliarty with the religion and leaving out that they apply the same standard to themselves to make them appear bigoted toward an oppressed class is malicious. Even if you dislike religion, don't support this kind of "journalism."

Westboro Baptist Church is Westboro Baptist Church. The reason WBC is specifically notorious is because the millions of other Christians who believe that all have sinned and deserve death do not "hate" sinners. Distorting their message to make them appear hatefully intolerant is hateful intolerance.

This wasn't in the Dark Ages, it was this last weekend.
OK, I may not have enough time for Maddow's program, but I had enough time for this. Thanks.

He called on us as a nation to repent. He did not call on the nation to execute them. He also called on adulterers to repent. He called out movies and books for normalizing both of those sins, including "cheating songs" in country music.

He did not ask the nation to execute gays just like he did not ask the nation to execute cheaters. He specifically said he does NOT condone corporal punishment for gays because he wants them to repent before they die. I n other words, he CARES about their souls and wants them to LIVE. The "deserved death" Christians talk about for sinners is the natural one that we all inevitably experience ("all have sinned"). In other words, he's preaching MERCY toward sinners. It's as frustrating that manipulative factions would distort that into "calling for the execution" as it is that the Westboro Baptist Church would distort the original message from the Bible.

Because execution is absolutely NOT what the pastor called for or encouraged, I move that the thread title be changed to reflect reality. Too bad we can't change Maddow's description.

"Pastor calls for the execution of all cheaters at Repub. event!"
Nope. Just as misleading/incorrect.

Nice, religious liberties conference. Liberty for whom exactly?

Apparently for Christians to impose Sharia law on those they see fit to judge.
Look if your religion says ya gotta kill gay people, then who are the rest of us to judge? Freedom!

Leviticus some such "the death penalty for homosexuals"

You got some rose tinted glasses there. Best go back to that cop thread gangster thug hate angle.

Look if your religion says ya gotta kill gay people, then who are the rest of us to judge? Freedom!

It doesn't say that. It says the punishment for all sin is death The death that they are talking about is natural death versus eternal life.

You are ignoring something BIG. It talks about death for all sin in several places and the death that they are talking about is death of the body versus eternal life. It says that there was no death before there was sin and that sin corrupted the world for all. It says that we DESERVE death so that the sacrifice of someone who has never sinned for the lives of all who accept that sacrifice actually means something.

You have no idea what a doctrine is....

It's pretty fucking clear what it is. Anyone with an education beyond the 10th grade should know this
doc·trine
ˈdäktrən/
noun
a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a church, political party, or other group.

Once we've killed all of the Gays, we can get on with converting all of the Jews.
