Past trains of thought for buying technology

I remember that I did way too much research when it came to settling on a CD player vs a cassette deck with Dolby-S. The conevenience was there for listening but there were no recording capabilities out yet for CDs.

😀 Yeah, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what those "voodoo" video card things were for.

I remember buying a modem and deciding if it's worth the extra $50 bucks to upgrade from 28.8k to 33.6k lol

on that note, I also thought about buying an iomega zip drive, zomg 100mb on a disk, that's unheard of, that's like 80 floppies.

I was cleaning up my files a couple weeks ago, and found a receipt from '90 or '91 were I had paid $800 for a 30meg hard drive!

Chose Cassette, for the Win!

Good choice.

I unfortuantely chose the celeron 333mhz instead of the 300a

Yeah, I went with a PII350 before I knew about the capabilities of the 300A.
And I played Quake II all the way to the end before I got 3D acceleration working with my Intel i740!

In the early 90's I bought an expensive diver's watch with depth sensor, then it never got used for anything more than surfing.

I just HAD to have double sided double density 5.25" floppies for my Radio Shack Model 4 .... Don't get me started on what I paid for the 5 meg hard drive .. zomg

My uncle bought me a similar $300 watch for christmas after I joined the Army. I kind of frowned when I opened the box because I didn't think that it was cool and I knew I wouldn't need/use it.

So instead of wasting his $300, I returned it and got gym membership for a year.

😀 Too true, it is just that I was never more than maybe 15ft down while getting worked in hurricane swells. 😛 Damned thing was big too.

That's the one, I'm stoked to see someone uses it appropriately.

 Money much better spent. But you are a level headed dude from all I've read, so no surprise, that.

I remember buying a 64mb geforce2 mx400 and wondering why the other geforce2s with less ram cost more. It had the most ram so it was the fastest!
