Passwords no longer saved in Firefox

For some reason, the Password Manager in FF no longer seems to work. My usernames and passwords to sites like AT Forums are saved, and I have to log in manually each time I exit and restart FF.

Also, the Password Manager no longer asks if I want to add the username and password.

Any idea what happened?

Edit
Nevermind...apparently all I had to do was clear my saved password list and everything's working fine.

Edit #2
Apparently, it still doesn't work. I thought it was fixed, but the passwords are still not being saved and manual login is required.

I found the cause of the problem.

Yesterday, I started getting error messages regarding some of my FF files in the *.slt profile directory. Apparently, some of the files were corrupted, and that's what was causing the passwords to not save. Once I rebooted, and let XP to repair the files, it seems to work fine now.
