Password Saving With Firefox

Hey guys i've been messing around for awhile and I can't seem to find the answer...so here I am. We all know that firefox has the ability to remember your username/password information for different sites. Well what do you do if you tell it never for a certain site...and then change your mind later? Can you undo it? Also what if you have it remembering a password and decide you no longer want it to? I believe I know that answer. You go into passwords and remove that site...I believe. My list of sites that I have the password remembered for isn't complete as there are some sites that firefox remembers, but they aren't on that list. Also some sites save like 5-6 options for a username so any assistance in cleaning that up would be appreciated as well. Hopefully there's a fix short of uninstall/reinstall.

Ok i'll try that thanks. I'm assuming it's gonna erase all my username/passwords? Ah well it's not hard to get em back. Thanks.

Ok I have version 1.5 as I said and I went to tools/options/privacy/passwords and removed the passwords from the listings. Now it did do just that, but it still didn't bring back the option to remember on certain sites like yahoo, bestbuy, etc. So the sites that I had saved before will let me enter a fresh username/password for saving. But the sites that either didn't ask me...or I told "never" to...still don't.

tools -> options -> privacy -> passwords tab -> view saved passwords -> clear any/all

then uncheck "remember passwords", hit ok/apply, go all the way back and recheck "remember passwords" and see if that does it.

Upgraded to 2.0 and still didn't fix it. I guess short of uninstall/reinstall there's not much I can do. When you tell firefox to "never" remember a password, they take it to heart 🙁

May work, may not......go into the Firefox directories and look for "Profile" directory and delete everything in there.

Tools, Options, Security, Next to "Remember passwords for sites" click on the Exceptions button. Remove the particular site. Restart Firefox. Life is good.

I just tested this for Yahoo Mail and GMail. I was able to save the password and then remove it from Firefox and it asked me again.

Have you thought about going to tools>options>privacy>view saved passwords button>then click the tab "passwords never saved" and then clicking the "remove all" button? Clearing that list may get the remember password function back to the sites you want to save on now.

I tried both the above recommendations on yahoo and nada 🙁 I tried mcvickj's on v1.5 and 2 and for some reason yahoo never asks me to remember. I'm sure it works because it's painly obvious and there's no other options of doing it but I guess something else is up in my setup. This is happening on my work pc and home...grrr. Ah well thanks guys.

Sites that firefox remembers, but that aren't on the password list, use cookies. So you have to go to the Cookie Manager (at least it's called like this in Mozilla) and delete the right cookies.

I'm sure there's a way to prevent specific sites from creating cookies again on your pc, too.
