Password protecting a file?

How would I go about password protecting a file?

Norton Secret Stuff will Encrypt it and password protect it for you. You then have to expand it at a dos prompt. Good proggie... I think I have it on a cd somewhere.

What Viper GTS said works (just remember to only add your name), but if you are going to transfer it to another computer, it wont have the same protection. Use Win Rar or Winzip to set a password. Then send a copy to me with the password.

lol...I repeat again...I am lazy I'll convert one of these days.

heh...I tried WinRAR, for some reason the password doesn't stick. Like I set it but then when you open the archive it doesn't ask for the password. Odd.

zip the file using regular windows zip, then go to properties and password protect it...at least that's how i used to do it.

I have a similar question. What program to password protect the contents of a burned cd? I don't want to have to unzip the whole contents everytime I access the disk. Any ideas?

Can't you just rename it as some weird file and hide it deeeeeeeep in the system directories?
