Well ok i bought a laptop off the "street" and when i boot it up it asks for a password on the desktop. Is there anyway i can remove this? I know theres a way for a normal comp but i just dont know about laptop. Any suggestions will help. Thanks

Is this the password where you can just hit cancel
and start Windows, or is this one of those where
nothing works unless you enter a password?

Sounds like the password is set in BIOS. Clearing CMOS might solve the problem.

Suggest you go to the notebook manufacturer's web site and see if you can download a manual. That should tell you specifically how to handle the situation.

😕 I had a Toshiba, and I pulled the battery. It didn't work, of course, but when I plugged it back in, everything was fine. What do you mean?

miAlien,
Does it have username and password fields? Or does it just have the password field? If it's got both, try putting in a new username and password. The PC should setup a new user and let you on. If not, get a CDrom drive for it, boot into dos, format /s, and reinstall. 🙂
