Password Network Computers

I'm on my school's open wireless internet now and I was wondering, how do they get Windows XP to password each computer so you can't access it? I dont want to hack the password, I just want to password my computer.

Under users, set "user must log on". Now you have to enter a password. Disable simple file sharing, and you are essentially done.

disable simple file sharing, if you do not want to share the contents of your computer over the network.
If you set "user must log on" for your account, you will have to use a password each time you start your computer.
Settings, control panel, user accounts.
