I'm helping a friend of mine try to regain internet access that was blocked by her. She used IE content advisor to stop here kids from seeing the unnessessary. Problem is, she set it too high and it wont let them have access to the majority of internet sites(i.e. allows yahoo's home page, but no email!!). She cant fix the problem because she forgot the password that prevents access to the settings. Is there a way to delete or reset the password for that. I know by deleting the *.pwl 's will reset the password needed to long on to windows, but am not sure about IE. Anyone have an ideas other than reformating?? That will be the last solution if i cant get the password to reset.

you can try this:
run regedit.
Click on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder
Click on the SOFTWARE folder
Click on the MICROSOFT folder
Click on the WINDOWS folder
Click on the CURRENT VERSION folder
Click on the POLICIES folder
Click on the RATINGS folder
Highlight KEY in the right window and press the DELETE key.
Click on the FILE menu and choose EXIT

Restart the computer
When the computer has restarted load Internet Explorer
Click on VIEW menu
Click on INTERNET OPTIONS
Click on the SECURITY tab
Click on DISABLE RATINGS
Click on OK without entering anything when prompted for a password
Click on OK when warned that Content Advisor has been disabled

You should now be able to view sites again correctly.

On a related note, my Windows 98 asks me my network logon password every time I boot. It's blank and I press Enter. Is there something I can do to make Win98 stop asking me for that blank password? Thanks. I am going to set up a LAN between my two machines, but haven't done it yet. Had to reinstall OS on one machine last week.
