Uh, that is very very risky, never heard of any modern procs, beside Cyrix, run cool enough for a fanless heatsink that small. Just take a look at the Zalman flower, that thing is huge.

Turns out it works, but only up to 2GHz. I've found a few people using it on 1-1.3GHz celeries with no probs.

Since i'm looking for a silent P4 2.5GHz hsf (and I got a pointer from another anand member) this won't cut it.

That looks a little small to really work. You will definetly not be doing any overclocking.

I grew out of the overclocking thing when the parents stopped supporting my substance abuse problem with computers :)

Check out this article. They're using a Zalman to passively cool a P4 2.8. Well, it's not totally passive. They use a duct to an exhaust fan, also.

LOL that looks like a regular copper heatsink. They just took out the fan....

The heatsink is likely for 1U rackmount application. You only have 25mm of height to mount a heatsink and a fan.
