Hi there,

I'm using a Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro in a SFF computer in the main bedroom.
Due to the noise-sensitive location, I'm trying to reduce the number of fans.

Is it possible to replace the fan on the 9600 with a passive heatsink? Has anyone succeeded doing this without damaging the card? BTW, I'm not overclocking, and the computer is mainly used as a HTPC.

Depends on how small your case really is i?d go for Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 2 rev 2 (AC-ATIS-2R2) as not sure if totally passive Zalman ZM80D-HP is compatible. With AC you still will not be able to hear hum/air flow from 1m+ - so virtually silent.
