I caused a backup of traffic because I was going the limit and there was a cop right behind me. Was a bit nervous because I was driving my Dad's car as well, and I'd not been in it much.
Everyone speeds, even cops, but you've just got to not do it around them.
Hell, going on a70 limit there was a police van doing in excess of 80 and we passed it going 90 or so. No problems.

I like to pull over cops who pass me and ticket them.

For real though, I don't understand why you would be scared to pass a cop, it's not illegal.

I am always passing cops. As long as you are at the speed limit or less than 5 over (in florida <5 is just a warning) they aren't doing anything. I have been pulled over twice and harassed when I was a teen ager in my 1988 GT, but nothing lately.

I wish Florida allowed that law that drivers to be ticketed who fail to yield to the right to allow faster traffic to pass (regardless if the passing traffic are speeders). IMHO this is what is contributing to most of the accidents, not the guys doing 10-20mph over the limit on a 55mph road.

I've passed many cops. If they aren't doing the speed limit, why should you worry about passing them?

In fact, if he's going REALLY slow, not passing him would be a LOT more suspicious than passing him.

Most of the slow driving cops I have seen were busy on the phone or radio at the time, and distracted.

I'll pass any cop, done it many times, except a NC State Trooper. Here where I live, County and City cops won't bother you unless your driving stupid or going 10-15+ MPH over the speed limit. Edit: Or you're driving a pimpmobile or a honda with a fart-can muffler.

I pass cops, I also ram them off the road and then shoot their cars up with my assault rifle. I love Grand Theft Auto!

The worst is those already going less than the limit, see a cop and ram their brakes.

If they arent going the speed limit, I am passing them. I was once told by a cop that the way he tickets on the interstate is to put his cruise control @ 10MPH over the speed limit. Then if you pass him he will ticket you for 11MPH over. So dont pass speeding cops.

I have passed a cop before. I try to accelerate past them at a red light or when merging onto a road, then I stay at the speed limit.

ummm actually it's mostly teens and crafty IT/IS departments only that think otherwise.

I personally rather deal with microsoft and compatibility rather than give up a lot.

Obviously once I have space I will have a linux and OSX setup.

that would imply that all black people are horrible at english, genius

Nice edit. YOU were the genius to remove the racism. LOL

Still waiting for snappy retort.

I see no edit. But I do see a retard.

LOL

Can't read the "Edited: 05/22/2005 at 12:32 AM by MAME" on the bottom?

My brother and I were talking about this exact thing just yesterday.. minus the racial innuendo.

It's really fascinating to watch.

Every once in a while, someone from way behind who can't see the cop will come flying down the highway... but will quickly back off once they see the cop. hahaha, it's great.

I got pulled over for passing a cop doing 60 as we was doing 55, I barely got 3 feet in front of him before the lights came on.

afraid to pass in general vs trying to pass a cop at double digits over the limit are two different things.

same here in LA

I pass them all the time ...

But once I passed a sheriff, and he didn't like it, so he pulled me over. I might have been going 2-5mph over.

He gave me a warning ... meh

I never pass them...or stay directly behind them even.

There's always a chance that you're breaking some random, worthless law that they can pull you over for.
