When I was flying back from Orlando, FL in May, the A/C broke on the plane, as did the NAV computer and they made us sit in the heat for an hour before letting us get off. They did not even give us ice water.

Fuck Obama for letting this happen.

You know these corporations are just doing this stuff to screw with people.

Grow up!

This is because the airlines don't have to do anything about these situations, so they won't spend any money to prevent them.

And, I guess it was cheaper to give to politicians to prevent them from being required to prevent this, than to actually prevent this.

My bad, based on the OP I figured the purpose of this thread was to post nonsensical political trolling bullshit.

People like you who aren't capable of looking beyond the surface are why politics have been boiled down to sound bites. You're too stupid to even find the P&N forum!

I will bet this is a plot of the evil corporations to take over America. First leave voters stranded on planes, then bribe the politicians to get what they want. Everyone in this corrupt government has their hands in the pockets of the corporations that truly run this country anyways. After all, weren't the Nazis pro-business?
I'm going to move somewhere safe and free, like Iran or Sudan.

People were taken away in ambulances. I'm sure that wasn't cheap with the cost of American health care.
If I was held on a plane under similar circumstances, I might have a sudden medical emergency that would require a 911 call and my immediate removal from the plane, followed by a remarkable spontaneous recovery.
This is ridiculous, worrying about 300 people when we have 12 million here illegally already.

Why don't they just spend a few thousand an airport on deployable chain link fences and surround the plane with it? Sure, not the most pleasant solution, but it sure beats the hell out of being inside of an airplane for five hours and it's damn cheap, to boot.

Yes...Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Air France, Luftanasa, Ethopian Airlines, LAN Airlines, Iberia and Quantas all gave money to US politicians for their personal foreign exemption while the domestic carriers twiddled their thumbs.

Your initial assumption was correct. There's no need to backtrack.

Airline says it asked to unload plane in CT

(AP) – 35 minutes ago

WASHINGTON — Virgin Atlantic says its pilot asked for permission to unload passengers stranded on a grounded plane in Connecticut but a customs official threatened to have them arrested if they got off the plane.

Greg Dawson, a London spokesman for the airline, said in an e-mail Thursday the flight's captain was told by a customs official at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks that passengers couldn't get off the plane until more immigration officials arrived. He said that it took over two hours for the officials to arrive.

Airport officials have said there was only one customs official at the airport Tuesday night when the flight from London to Newark, N.J., was diverted due to poor weather.

Some passengers passed out on the hot plane.

Customs on international flights is a different kind of beast, can't bypass those regulations because of the War on Terra, right?

I'd almost be tempted to tell them to eat a dick and take my chances getting arrested.

Unless Internationl customs laws prevent it. Which they do. The US doesnt want 300 potential illegals stepping foot on US soil with nobody around to verify who they are.

(Unless they are mexican, apparently)

I am sure if they were to allow people off with security to use a bathroom the ed of the world wouldnt happen. We need more thinking and less blindly following rules that dont account for extreme situations like this story.

Ah - but you have CYA if you follow the rules. Someone else made those rules so go talk to them. As soon as you decide to not follow the rules any consequences become yours and yours alone.
