CNN announcing a passenger on a flight from LA to Chicago tried to enter the cockpit. Plane is on the ground and safe. That guy will not see the light of day for a long, long, time...

<< wtf was he thinking? no plan or nothin.. just felt like causin trouble.. >>

He's VERY EXTREMELY stupid for trying that. He's going to go away for a long, long time.

I heard a little about this too.
The sonic booms in the west and NW suburb area were from a couple of F-16's that scrambled to escort the plane to the airport.

hopefully that is...

Well the feds have been soft on this crime before. Usually this is a result of a drunk person who gets too much of an altitude buzz. It will be interesting to see if they really throw the book at these freaks now.

Two F-16's were scrambled and escorted the 767 down. It was an American Airlines flight going LAX to O'Hare with 153 passengers on board. Passengers reportedly subdued the "deranged" passenger who never managed to get into the cockpit. FBI is currently interviewing the passengers.

<< Lock him up.. >>

Nah--give him a free trip to Afghanistan! 😀

I think we ought to just stick him into a cannon and shoot him straight into the face of the Sears Tower 60 stories up. If he want's to fly into a building, I say let him do it....alone.

edit: if this person is indeed autistic and wasn't meaning any harm, then I take back my statement. 😱

<< cheers to the passengers, thats EXACTLY how we protect ourselves from idiots. >>

the unfortunate part of that is due to the "sue happy" society we live in he'll probably sue the people who assaulted him and the airlines

CNN just had a report on this, i guess the kid is aroudn 16 years of age and is Mentally retarded. He knocked on the cockpit door to see the plane fly or somthing, the piolots freaked and hit the "hijack" button.

It was a mentally disturbed boy, apparently, who wanted to see the cockpit, or something. No charges being files at this point, no arrests made.

A few weeks ago I was sitting right where I am now (at the computer) when an autistic boy freaked-out in the parking lot of my apartment complex, jumped out of his mother's car while it was moving (not very fast), then proceeded to scream and jabber-talk like a babbling idiot, as he ran into the apartment building trying to open everyone's doors. Mine was unlocked, and he came right in. I was in my underwear for crying out loud! He took one look at me, then ran back-out trying to open doors down the hall.

His mother finally caught-up to him, and for 20 minutes the kid was going bezerk in the hallway. Trying to hit his head against the wall, biting, kicking, screaming, flailing. When people came out to see what the f-ck was going on, she reassured them that he was autistic and that he had fits like this from time to time - nothing to worry about.

I'm sorry, but modern medicine as great as it is, and as compassionate a guy as I am, I think modern medicine sometimes sentences people into their own personal hell by keeping certain people alive who wouldn't otherwise live without life-long caretaking. If yer no good to yerself...

I'm surprised some nutjob hasn't tried it sooner than this. There are a lot of crazy people in this country, not to mention the rest of the world. Didn't his father say he was demented or something to that effect. Sorry I haven't read the whole thread yet.
