Just curious if Partition Magic is still the recommended partioining software? I see alot of people recommending Acronis for imaging so how does their partitioning s/w stand up to PM?

OK, I got a brand new laptop for work so I want to image it before i install some stuff. Only problem is it's one partitoin now. Guess I'll try burning the image to a dvd.

I've always used Partition Magic and it's worked well for me. Never used Acronis.

I used PM for years before one huge accident that erase one of my partition while modifying and moving the partition. After that, I changed to Acronis and am very happy about the program.

I use the Windows XP CD works great, FDISK I haven't used in about 3 - 4 years I think after Windows 98.

I think if you image a HD that is a 1 portition and then change the portition size or split it it won't be able to restore it.

Oh did you want software for portitioning after windows is installed?

Ghost 9 works good to and can backup the image to a DVD.

I used to make 2 portition the second for my ghost image and other files I want to keep but I tried 4 this time and it sucks going back to 2 only after I clear my HD.
