partitioning a hard drive in win95

Is it the same as in 98 or is there a different way you have to do it? I have done it in 98 already.

Same thing.

Unless it's Win95a (anything with a copyright date before 1996). In that case, you'll have a 2G limit imposed on each partition.

You have to partition in dos using fdiskright? A friend was telling me you could do it in the control panel. I laughed at him so please tell me he is wrong so I can go back and beat him down like a red headed step child.

Yup...you have FDISK it in DOS. Shutdown to MS-DOS mode, or boot up with safe mode command prompt.

It can't be done from the control panel.

If you have Win95B or above, when you start FDISK, it will give you the option to enable large hard disk support. Hit Y to use FAT32, hit N to use FAT16.

You can't partition from Control Panel. The only way Win95/98 provides is FDISK, which must be run from DOS. Some programs (PartitionMagic) let you choose partition sizes from Windows, and then drop to DOS to perform the actual mods.
