Partition table gone bad?

I just mounted one of my hidden partitions and it's telling me I need to format the disk. I haven't done anything to the disc, so I'm a bit shocked that this is happening. I'm currently running software to recover the partition table, but I was wondering if the rollback feature in Windows Vista would also solve this problem? This is the first time I've ever had to deal with this. Please help!
