hi building a new pc and i am going to put vista home premium 64 clean install on a wd 640gb hd.my question is instead of making 1 whole drive i would like to put vista on a partition but how big do i make it to be safe and away from the rest of the drive?

i have always made my vista partition around 150gb because i install games in it. the rest of my files and anything that doesnt belong in Program files is on the rest of the drive.

after all the vista updates and if you install the dreamscene stuff, you should hava vista installation of probably 30-50 gb. that's what i've seen on my system.

Personally, I use a 30GB partition for Vista. I started with 25GB but after installing a few apps that needed stuff on C:/ I grew it.

When I first loaded vista on a 320 GB HD, I had 60GB partitioned. But with all the updates and fixes, it seemed to grow a bit so after I got my new WD 640GB, I partitioned it to 150GB for vista and Now it seems to have plenty and I wont have to do it again....

Edit: WD
