Hi,
I have a situation, here it is:-
I have 2 windows partitions, 1 for programs and stuff and one for backup. I also HAD a linux partition. However when i installed windows XP it wrote over the boot choice thing that Mandrake installed. I gave up on it at the time, and i am now happy with windows XP. However linux still has 10gb assigned to it. And my efforts to remove it have been repelled.
In fdisk the partition the linux bit is on is marked as an Extended DOS partition. When i try to delete it, it says it cannot as there are logical partitions still on the extended DOS partition. When i go to delete those, it says there are "no logical drives defined". Damn fdisk. Ok, so i try diskdruid(an older version from Definate linux 7.0 install.) it says it cannot access the disk because the partition table is corrupted, or something similar.
I borrowed Partition Magic from a friend, and found it less than magic. It says it can't run in Windows because there are "non-windows partitions" or some such. So it boots to its DOS incarnation, and displays the entire disk as one 30gb block, which is utter nonesense, and comes up with a similar error to Disk Druid.
So what can i do to A) get rid of linux and reclaim my 10gb, and B) Fix my partition table.
Formatting then entire thing is NOT an option im afraid.
Anyhelp would by greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Sven
