Partition Magic 8, Ghost 14, and Norton Internet Security 2008 bundle | $5

This is a good find. However, I like to point out that with Vista, Microsoft finally provides the ability to do it properly with Disk Manager. So, if you have a new laptop running Vista and like to dual boot Linux, you can do so without Partition Magic. Also, the gnome partition manager included with Ubuntu Feisty LiveCD will not resize Vista partitions. But of course you can already do it in Vista itself.

pkwan how are you able to natively within Vista resize the current partition you are booting from? I honestly don't see how it is possible, unless you didn't actually mean resizing partitions in Vista.

Thanks 'Schadenfroh'. Picked mine up in-store while shopping for other things.
Its nice to have a new copy of Ghost and another copy PM - I'll probably sell NIS on the bay or CL and make a couple of bucks off this in the end.

goofy4ever, what was your question, and who were you questioning? If it was me, then I don't know how I could make it simpler other than the fact you cannot resize a partition that is running the OS while you are operating within that OS. Which is why I questioned his claims you can do this in Vista now. If you were questioning the fact that symantec bough Partition Magic since Partition Magic 8 used to be owned by Power Quest. What was your question again?

Be aware that the $20 upgrade rebate has been valid since 9/1/2006. If you bought Norton Internet Security anytime in the past year, you probably got this rebate already, and they will turn you down this time.

Actually they'll turn you down if you're on your 4th copy. I've done it. I recently moved a few miles so figured I'd try to get more than the three I had but somehow they must have found out since they invalidated my 4th upgrade rebate.

Also, you can get upgrade rebates for both Ghost and PM to make some money off this deal (limit 3 each, unless those rebates expired). Just search the symantec rebate site.

So, stupid question but lets say you don't have any retail anti virus right now... could you buy both this package and the kaspersky package, take the label from their boxes, and send in the competitive rebates? Right now I'm faced with not getting the $30 rebate on the Kaspersky but it seems like I could get both to get all 4 rebates...

Yes, I've done similar cross-upgrade rebates in the past.

Just a heads up, Partition Magic doesn't work with Vista 64 (I don't know about Vista 32). You need Acronis Disk Director for Vista 64.
