Partition Magic 7 problems???

I used PM 7 to partition my HD. I clicked "create new partition" and "No OS will be installed" and it automatically assigned a new drive letter to my new partition.

BTW, this is the first time I've used partition magic. After I clicked finish, my comp took awhile to restart and seemed like it just froze when the screen came on saying completed. My specs are: Win 2000, P4 2.4, 200gig HD.

After waiting for quite some time, I just hit the power switch. Checked the new partitions and all seems to be fine. I can create new files to the new partitions.

Here's the main problem. I can't install any applications to the newly partitioned drives. It begins the install and then I get an error message.

Has anyone experienced this problem before or know what to do?

Thanks for helping!

edit: The error message is "Error 1317. An error occured while attempting to create the directory E:\Program Files"

*sigh*

Can you right click within windows and format them similar to a floppy drive?

Go to the desktop.

right click "my computer". Choose "manage".

Choose "Disk Management".

You can now do almost anything PM7 can (except for the system drive) from here.

amdskip,
I will check and see when I get home from work.

arfur,
I'm guessing it does because all 200 gigs showed up in the management screen while I was selecting my partition sizes. I sent PM an email to make sure...

Gstanfor,
Cool. I will try that later today, but what should I do from there?

You can do almost anything PM7 can do (system partition manipulation aside). That includes, creating, formatting and deleting partitions and a whole lot more (to do with NTFS and volumes and their benefits).

it is easy to use. If you have trouble, just post in this thread and myself plus others will help you through any issues (you should not encounter any though).

Thanks Gstanfor!

I tried reformatting that one particular partition after finding that the other partitions were accepting installs. For some reason, that fixed it.

Thanks again!
