Hi guys,

I installed my new HD and partitioned it and everything was working fine. I took out the old HD and moved the new HD off the PCI IDE controller and on tot he onbaord IDE Controller.

I boot up my pc and now I lost a partition. Not such a problem as I have back ups. I had to format it as it was giving me the had to format message. I format it but I am now UNABLE to access 12Gb of that partition 🙁.

I know that I will lose some space due to the 1000MB or 1024MB = 1GB thing. Before I had 68.3Gb ont his partition now I have 55.9Gb and it says12.4GB[/b] is 'used' but the partition is empty. I have formatted it 3x now. I have yet to restart as I don't like to restart 😛.

I run Win2kPro and all drives are formatted to NTFS.

I am formatting with the Computer Management in Control Panel. Thanks.

I'll Format with the Win2kPro cd later as I need to use my computer right now.

Thanks.

I have a similiar problem. I have a 250 gig drive, which i split into 2-125 gig partitions.

Patotion1 is no problem

Partition2 told me it needed to be reformatted, and when I did, it should 105 gigs used space and only 20 free.

I am using XP Pro, with NTFS, but they sound like similiar problems.

Well I put the drive BACK to the PCI IDE Controller and it SHOWS up EXACTLY how it was before I moved it to the onboard IDE controller.

It has all my files I had on it before the format! It shows the 'correct' amount and even has the files on it before I formatted it. REALLY strange...

It is a WE SE drive.

BUT the stupid thing is I formatted THE SAME partition. It shows up as empty in Windows but has 12GB USED somehow but there is NOTHING on the drive. Nothing hidden also and I checked for that.

I put it on the PCI IDE controller and it appears AS IT WAS BEFORE THE FORMAT with all my files intact.

I have another drive on the onboard IDE controller 160Gb partition that has 149GB useable BUT that is the formatted size of it though.
