Partition blues

First time builder and uber noob... I was loading windows XP on my just finished new build and saw the opportunity to partition my hard drive. I thought cool! I have always heard of people partitioning off a section for their OS and one for data. So I selected a portion of my 250GB and loaded XP as normal. Well know when I look @ my computer and my C: Drive only has the one partition of X amount. What do I need to do to find the other section or reformat my whole hard drive?

Thanks for all the help

If more information is needed let me know...

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management

From there, create a new partition, and format it.

You should have thought " What will happen if I do this?...excitable boy!

For my own knowledge..

Is there a way to delete a partition and add the newly free space to the other partition without reformatting and losing all data?
