I noticed the partisanship started again last night, with 1/2 of the congress sitting on their hands several times, I see it as a signal of "Partisan Politics as Usual"

If you vote, give the poll a bump or a response so it stays up for a while...

I think the democrats will have to put up a good canidate for presidency to take Bush. At the time, I can't really think of one that stands too much of a chance.... maybe and I mean maybe, Lieberman(he's pro-war... he might be able to swing some moderates). I'm guessing Bush will run un-opposed for the Republican ticket because no one stands a chance against him... except a possible McCaine(he is definately more of a moderate than republican). But, realistically, Bush will win re-election. The economy will go up before November 2004. The voters have a ~6month memory when it comes to things like that. Look for Bush for 4 more years and then in 2008 I think we'll see Hilary make a serious run for it. As for the Senate, I think it will stay basically the same. We'll see if Lott stays in office, which I think he will. Daschle will be a bit iffy on re-election because of his stance on estate tax... he is from South Dakota, God only knows how he got elected in the first place.

Personally my favorite shot was when Bush announced that the tax cuts were designed so that people don't have to send money to Washington in the first place. The Dems didn't like that comment at all. Hilary's facial expression was utterly priceless.

My guess would be Zell Miller also, although the guy running the camera last night made it difficult to tell.

Well the poll seems a little less than objective. :p

Yes or No, do Republicans still eat their babies?

Anyway, remember Geo the First. Election was in the bag after the Gulf, wasnt it? Well, things dont always go as you think. If the war goes well, and the rest of the world starts throwing daisies and tribute at the US, then Okey Dokey. If the Occupation goes badly and a million soldiers are stuck in the region for years having to shoot anything that moves or be subject to attack from gurellas, then people will say 9/11? Oh that thing, well yeah it was bad, but now we are stuck in this shite hole. Hey who is responsible for this anyway? Geo loses to Kerry or whoever. Politicians can screw things up for themselves with partisan policies, but it is not always the main factor in an election. Hillary could win in the right circumstances.

Aaarrrgghhh, my eyes.....

She shouldn't win, just cuz I don't want to look @ the bull *** all the time, it's bad enough already. Why couldn't Cindy Crawford or Shania Twain (insert hot babe's name here) run???? They could read the speeches as well as any Politician can & be easier on the eyes.

My 10 year old asked me for a definition of politics last night, I told her it was Show business for ugly people. My wife wouldn't let her write it down:(

I didn't want to throw a lot af assumptions into things, just trying to look @ the historically high level of support Bush currently has. Personally I suspected another 9-11 type of terrorist act would occur by now & was fortunately wrong.

Internationally he did very well, but the Domestic concerns along with a masterful candidate in President Clinton were just too much. Also, Ross Perot took a ton of votes, but most of those were probably people that would have voted for Bush.

So if the economy is in the tank, and the Middle East in flames with our soldiers in the middle, Geo could do ... what?
Voters will go with what they percieve as in their interest. If things are good, then he is fine. If it people start to wonder if Armageddon is just around the corner, then he is out unless he starts sporting god-like powers. No one can control the future to that degree. Dats all I was saying.

Why does there need to be another attack? It could happen, but personal freedoms are in question, the US is about to enrage millions of Arabs and enter a conflict Bin Laden prayed would happen, people are afraid of their own shadows, still. It is harder to do something devistating. The terrorists are being largely ignored, compared to Iraq. They are around the world in relative safety compared to how they would be if they attacked. They got and are getting what they want.

Yep, I think the problem is that the public wants quick fixes & isn't willing to take the long view, however, in order to avoid a spiraling deflation, the fed & gov need to open the money spigots a little to stimulate the economy & prevent another depression or a deflationary period, leading to an economic depression.

Thought the hydrogen car bit was pretty good, made it look like we elected Gore for a few seconds:D

I want a flying hydrogen car...

Economic changes do take time, for sure.

PM, I wish there would be flying hydrogen cars. Cross them off your wish list after 9/11 though. What I woulld like to see is 10% of what has ALREADY been spent in preparing for this war go to energy R&D. Here is what I would have too- Results would be public domain. Anyone can use the technology, but not exclusively. You would have the free market in action doing the public some good.

But instead we'll have a poorly organized group of auto manufacturers who don't want to share technology for fear of letting the other guy know what they have up their sleeve for the next 2 model years ("Ooh, oh, oh, this new headlight will get those Expiditions off the sales floors.") & they'll squander the grant on some crap, while Honda/Toyota/Nissan/Mitsubishi put real hydrogen powered cars on US roads...

Who sells the Only hybrid cars in the US to the public, let's see... oh yeah, Honda & Toyota:(

voters vote by their wallet

so if voters feel like the economy is better/getting better when they vote in '04 , Bush and the republicans will win

if voters feel like the economy is worse/getting worse, they will "kick the bums out"

to this end, the democrats in Congress will try to block anything that will improve the economy between now and that election, since any action on the part of Congress to help the economy will help republicans more than Democrats

i don't see a choice in your poll that reflects my opinion, so i decline to respond

For some reason, I suspect those flying hydrogen cars will have a hella MSRP, even if you delete the flying option...
