I have windows xp running on my computer. I have 1 partion with C: 40 gigs, all used, and another partion with D: 50 gigs unused. I was wondering what program/software should I use so I can have those 50 gigs added to the C drive without having to reformat. I have important information on this computer. Thanks.

Symantec Partition Magic can do this, do a google search for the free trial of version 8.0 (I assume the trial just has a time limit and no lost functionality).

I think a bootable GParted disk will work... haven't used it personally though. Make sure you backup the drive in case you break anything.

gamer,

Here's a url to a "free" partitioning tool. Haven't studied it, so read carefully, but it could be just what you need: http://www.terabyteunlimited.c...it-next-generation.htm

Then try to Google "free partitioning software." Lots out there...

BTW, I use Partition Magic, v. 8.0 and love it. If you can find it (pre-Symantec) get it, maybe eBay...

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

You can download the LiveCD utility from the link and burn to a CD.
Then, boot to the CD. It let's you delete the empty partition and then resize the other partition.

It is always a good idea to backup your data before manipulating partitions.
