Partioning drives in xp?

How do I repartition my entire drive, I am not worried about losing data (I want a completely fresh drive). With windows xp you cannot repartition your boot or system partition using Administrative tools. Any ideas?

Can't you just use the XP CD and boot>partition> and install?

No, that's what I did initially, but now that xp is installed when I re-install it I don't have the option to re-partition. Thanks though.

correction: I have the option to re-partition but not to re-partition the boot partition (that has the xp files on it).

But, can't you delete all the existing partitions, then recreate new partitions, then install?

one thing that would help you is to use a win98 boot disk, fdisk and format your partitions, and reinstall winXP and then you should definitely have the option of starting from scratch there.

hope that helps...

good luck 🙂

if u want the absolute (i think) cleanest install, write zeroes to the drives, and if u have a raid card or something wipe the partition tables, then in xp when u install off the bootable cd it tells u that ure drive is "raw and unpartitioned". that worked for me.
