Hi,
My laptop can't access many internet websites while it can access facebook, youtube, and google and its search results.

I have comcast xfinity cable service that I share with 4 other people. I have dual band XB3 cable modem and a dlink dir-826L wireless router hooked up to it. We had some service interruptions this week and when service was resumed everyone else's computer accessing the internet fine but mine.

When I try to access other websites other than facebook, youtube, and google, internet browser just keep waiting for reponse and sometimes I see "downloading proxy on status bar of the browser. I ran virus scan thinking this was a malware interception issue but found no malwares. How can I solve this issue?

Thanks all.

See if something has entered in proxy settings for your web browser. check your other web browsers or get a third party browser if you are still using MSIE.

Otherwise it is usually a problem with what ever DNS server you are using. Your router that manages all 4 of your connections should be using one that is auto given it by your ISP, although if you suspect that is the issues then you can manually configure yourself to use one of googles (8.8.8.8 is one I believe).

I downloaded firefox and installed and same thing happened. By google DNS server, are you asking me to enter 8.8.8.8 into my router's DNS setting?

No.
Your room-mates have no problems. You do. So it can't be the settings on the router.

Most likely your PC does not take over the suggestion for DNS-server from the router. Which he gets via DHCP. Check the Windows networking control panel. Check if your PC has a static entry for DNS server, or whether it is set to automatic (which means: follow the recommendation you get via DHCP at boottime). In any case, set it manually to 8.8.8.8 (in the control panel on your PC). See if it fixes things.

Pls make sure all your internet explorer settings are set to default.

Pls check your router for any sort of http block for only your ip address and mac address

You can change ur system ip to static and see if it works.

Pls tell us your router model and i can check the manual online

Open up a command line and type in "ipconfig /all" and post your results. It certainly sounds like a dns issue so far.
