Well, school is coming to an end shortly so that means college students are going to be back at work to pay for the beer they bought throughout the year (oh yeah and tuition)... Just curious as to what everyone is going to do work-wise. And you full-time people out of school (or in school) can post what you do too, even though there was a thread about that. ;)

<--- Most likely going to go back to Target..

Still looking for a full time position. Hope to find one soon as I am out of this place in just under a month.

Hopefully security at Tweeter Center in Chicago. Maybe some pizza delivery 1 or 2 days out of the week for some extra cash.

What's that like? (Tweeter) I've seen a bunch of signs about it and was wondering if I should do it or not. As for me I'll be doing the same thing I am now part time. I'm an Epson sales representative and work in Best Buy but not for Best Buy. It's actually a pretty sweet job.

I had a few jobs through college...

the summer before and winter vaction of Frosh year, I worked as a file clerk in my dad's office ($10/hour, 40 hours a week, for basically doing nothing... rumor had it, they just made up the position as a favor to my dad :p spent the whole time finding and putting away files for people, and assisting other departments in random duties when they were backed up. mostly data entry and phone harrasment).

summer break between Frosh and Soph year, I worked for a temp agency. spent the whole summer as an executive assistant for some telecommunications company that went under a few months after I went back to school ($9/hour, 50 hours a week. pretty stressful, but great work experience).

the summer after Soph year until a few months after graduation, I worked at a customer service call center. crappy pay ($8.50/hour, though every summer after my first they gave me an extra $1/hour), but it was fairly stress free, and had the added benefit of not having to worry about getting fired (my boss was a close friend of the family). after graduation, I bumped around that company for awhile (did some programming, and managed their website) before finally quitting and getting a real job.

addendum...

I think one of the big things for part-time jobs in college is finding a good balance between pays well and provides useful skills.

internships are great, but too many of them pay either minimum wage or nothing at all. money was always too much of an issue for me to go that route. instead, I tried my best to work for temp agencies and doing random office work, so I'd at least have something to bulk up my resume with other than fast food and retail jobs.

If you can get through the screening process, fedex has some pretty cool part time jobs. The truck loaders make around $11 an hour, work 2 hours in the morning, and two hours in the afternoon. You get some pretty cool benefits too - reduced shipping costs, standby flights on their planes to their hubs, ect.

Computer jobs on the side up the ying yang I'm hoping. This is where the money is at.

I feel sorry for you :p

I put in 3 years at a local target; finally decided a couple of weeks ago that I'd had enough. Got about a month, and then I'm going to work for my school's IT department for the summer. After that, I'm hoping I can continue that as part of the work / study financial aid program at school. If not, I'll have to find another part time job around our new house (family is moving) once school starts again. Oh well. At least it won't be Target :)

I will probably continue working for Taco Bell for the first couple of years, have to make rent starting in May for my apartment. I should be getting promoted to assistant store manager, which will put me on salary, but it will be around $21K a year, for not doing much at all, or atleast not much more then what I am currently doing for $7/hour, and I will actually be in charge of the place, scheduling, hiring, firing, etc.. My boss will only be store manager on paperwork, otherwise I will be in charge.

I delivered pizza. It was pretty good bank, and I got "paid" every day. Every 2 weeks I'd receive a "bonus." :p
