I had asked about this earlier, and although action was taken (quickly, thank you), the discussion of penalties for starting these things in OT went nowhere. Could we possibly add in something in the stickied post at the top of the forum and attach some vacations? These threads are never useful and hardly ever funny. Ironicly enough, the author of this post is also a 'wrong forum' nazi.

Oddly enough, these kinds of posts in FI annoy me 10x more than any parody thread ever has.

Of course, I didn't have to read this one, much the same as you don't have to read the ones in OT.

you do generally have to dig through 5 pages of parody posts to find any real ones tho. of course, that's like reason 8020934933 to stay out of OT.

Exaggerate much?

In the 8-hours a day a periodically check OT, I generally see fewer than 4-5 paroday throughtout the day - some good, most bland.

To me, this seems like some "Freedom Fires" crusade by a few overzealous members here who have nothing better to do, it seems.

If the rules say that parody threads are not allowed, then should be locked. Rules should not be slackened or changed because a few ppl dont mind them.

There really should be consistency and clarity on what is and is not allowed.

And if you point me to that rule against "parody threads" I will shut about about them. As there seems to be no such rule, I'm making my case that they do not bother me, just as others say they do.

Whatever the AT powers-that-be decide if fine by me, but you are right, consistency and clarity are sorely lacking. Maybe oldsmoboat can just publish his "list" and everyone that he dislikes can be perma-banned.

If one feels that a thread is a parody, then PM the mods. They may not catch all parodies every time. A couple can slip through, and that will generate an impression of favoritism.

A valid complaint/alert should usually produce the desired results.
