Parking your vehicle between the lines.

Slick Mcflicken

Who here actually makes an effort to park their vehicle between/within the painted parking lines in your own parking lot or public.

I know I try my best to do so, even if i have to dig out the painted line with my boot/shoe when parked. So does everyone here try to be "sorta-civil" while parking their "beast-grocery-getter.... etc" ?

Next is Use your turn signals..... Anyone?.... Bueller?.... Anyone?.. 😕

occasionally you'll get one jackass forcing everyone to park their car outside the lines all the way down the row.

if nothing else, I will at least make sure that there's enough space on either side of my car for an average-sized driver to get in.

This is how I park my car.

The only time I don't park between the lines is when there is so much snow packed in, I can't see them.

I thought this thread was going to be about those jerk offs that think their car's are so precious they split the line and take up two spots. I have half a mind to hit them anyway.

I have an old Mini.
I can't not part in the lines without a massive amount of effort.
Even if someone else is parked outside the lines I can still park next to them and still be in the lines.

I make the effort. If I think its less than perfect I open the door and look down. If I'm walking around behind it and the job looks hideous, I correct it before heading into the store/bar/restaurant.

I saw a really badly parked 370Z the other day. Was taking up two parking spots. Didn't look like he had done it on purpose either. If you can't drive it, don't buy it.

I always make an effort to get in between the lines and straight.

Yep, this. Usually I get it on the first try, but sometimes I do mess it up and I have to fix it. Shit happens. 😛

I DO park my car within the lines every time, and I DON'T have to make any extra effort to do so.

what's wrong with you?

it'd be nice if they painted them given the size characteristics of a modern car and not a 1980's corolla.

If they are way out in tim buk tu i dont mind. But when they do that shit up close i like to have my fun. If theres room ill park my car close to the driver side door. Enough that he could get in but enough that itll be awkward and a bit of a struggle. Mind you i only do that in my beater commuter car. When theres no room to do that Ill have fun and leave them a note on the wind shield. "Hey you did an awesome parking job. I was so jealous that i couldnt contain myself so i pee'd all over your door handle. Sorry about that!" I always carry water so i dumb a bit. Ive gotten to watch the person come up twice. One got right in and then noticed the note and got out. The look on his face was the best. That look of shock/fear/anger. Started looking around for who did it then just got it in and left. The other guy wasnt nearly as great. Saw the note first and just sort of looked around then smells his handle and could tell it was just water 🙁

In summer, yes. In winter since the lines are covered, you kinda have to guess where the lines are, unless they're on a wall if parking against one, or align with posts or other indicators. So I usually just park the way that makes the most sense or that looks logical. If there's other vehicles I'll just follow whatever they did.

1980 Corolla width: 63"
2009 Corolla width: 69.3"

I don't think that <10% is going to make that big of a difference in parking.

Mind you, when the douchebag in the F350 decides to park in the compact spot, that does ruin things for everyone.

I hope you slashed his tires at least?

A couple of my favorites restaurants have islands next to some spaces and these spaces usually have 20-25% more width. I tend to take one of them, hugging the island, but this only is rewarded by some jackass motherfucker that will deliberately park over the line to be close to me when no one is parked on his opposite side.

That is when I take tag pictures and post them online, to insurance-friend websites, etc. There is always a jackass motherfucker in the crowd.

It's a litmus test for humanity. Are you so self-centered/thoughtless that you won't make the effort to park correctly? You have an obligation to society to park between the lines.

I already realized america is full of self-righteous, self-centered assholes. The roads prove it.
Changing lanes.
Passing.
Turning.
Stopping.
Parallel Parking.
Parking in a lot.

Its easy to see who thinks they are special.
In my neck of the woods, its probably at least half the people on the roads.

Honda has added more than 20 inches and 1,000 pounds to the four-door Accord since its inception in 1979. It's been redesigned for 2008. You can expect the growth spurt to continue, as it has in other cars.
