So half the people who go to walmart can't walk properly? :)

Heh, the people you are describing are the exact opposite of me. I am the person the parks ON THE OTHER SIDE of the parking lot, where there isn't another vehicle for at least 1,320 feet in all directions.

I take meticulous care of my truck. If I park in a "normal spot", when I come out, there's a family van w/one side smashed in parked right on top of my drivers door and a 1960 Chevy S-10 with a cracked windshield, four bald tires and no licesne plates parked on top of the passenger door. :| Oh, and an assortment of new dings and scratches on my truck.

Wherever I go, there could be 10 spots right in front of the entrance door. I refuse to park there. I will intentionally drive to the opposite end of the lot and walk. It used to drive my GF nuts, but now she's used to it. :)

I only stop if the car is pulling out.

At my school, those same ppl who sit there and camp for a spot, or drive around until theyre 15 mins late for class are the same ones who are complaining nonstop about parking. Their suggestion? Build a parking garage. COMPLETE LAZINESS!

You think that is bad? Once at a mall, my friends and I actually got into our car (which was parked very close to the mall) and put the car in reverse. We backed half the way out and immediately there were a barrage of cars trying to claim our spot (some of them used to even fight with each other over the spot). Then we put the car into drive and eased back into the spot. The look at their faces was unbelievable. Repeat for a few minutes of fun:p

Thats why I keep an awl, gum and a baseball bat in my car. Depending on the severity of the damage, I get my revenge. Someone in an SUV dinged my car so I took the awl and scrated his entire door. Does wonders since its not a surface scratch that can be buffed out, its as deep as you can get. A person will get the gum on their handle or covering their lock if they scratch my car but it rubs off my hand. And if anyone ever hits me (usually from behind), they get the good ole baseball bad to their side-view mirror. One time these two suckas boxed me in, leaving about 6 inches on each side to maneuver. Took me like 3 minutes to inch my way out. Wish I saw their faces when they see their cracked side-view mirrors.

Damn. They learned a lesson, huh? *evil grin* If I got dinged/scratched, I used to wait for the owner to come out. When they denied hitting me, I'd call the police. Unfortuantely, I found out the hard way that 75% of the vehicles on the road in San Antonio are UNINSURED. Hence, me getting screwed. Again. And Again.

That's why now, I park so far away that it's not even funny.

Yea, I'd rather park further away (and preferably in a space with only a car to the left or right, not both) and walk then wait and park upfront.

I lurked maybe once or twice during the last couple semesters. This was only because I didn't start class until 11:00 am on some of the days, so the lots were already full. The next closest place to park was like a mile away, so I didn't wanna go all the way out there. After a couple days trying that I said fook it, because I spent just as much time looking for a spot as I would have spent just parking at the other place. So instead of wasting gas I decided to get some exercise every day. Although the 15 minute walk through rain, sleet, and snow was not the most fun I've ever had (until I found some _secret_ parking spots a little closer, heheh).

On another note, I laugh at the poor saps looking for spots when I go to class on Tuesdays and Thursdays because I found some spots that are hidden behind a building to park in. They are 30 minute loading zone spots that you are supposed to have a permit for, but I figure the parking officers aren't gonna go check these couple spots out anyhow. So, I just park there for an hour, without a permit, and go to my only class for the day. Works like a charm because I only gotta walk like 4 or 5 minutes to class instead of 10 to 15 minutes :). Oh yeh, and when I go to a store or anything with a big parking lot, I just zoom in, look for a relatively short row, and then park like 3 or 4 spots past the last car - this way I dont' mess around trying to actually 'park' or drive around looking for a spot, I just drive right into the spot.
