parking in corner spots

WTF. I park in corner spots and get REALLY close to the curb so the car that parks next to me doesn't "inadvertently" slam their door open onto my car.

I've realized more often than not people end up parking close to you anyway, I'm assuming so the person on the other side doesn't slam their drivers side door onto their car. Either that or people completely ignore "lines" in parking spots and just park close to the car that's already parked in a spot...

(Almost) No one parks using the lines. They use the cars next to them as a gauge and park as close to the middle as possible.

I use the lines at the parking spots if I get there first. I gauge where my car parks if there are already cars there.

I always park between the lines. Where my car falls between the lines depends on where the cars next to me are.

With my old car, the closer the other guy was to the line, the closer i was to the line. I loved days where I could make the rearview mirrors overlap so the other guy couldn't get into his car through the driver side door.

And in certain Southern California cities, that will get you a 184.00 parking ticket.

...and I park my old F150 right next to you, as closely as if you had parked like an intelligent being.

here at the university where parking is precious that will get your car ticketed and mad students will probably trash your vehicle too (literally, saw someone's pickup covered in garbage from the nearby can for poor parking).

You can do that in your new car (whatever that is), just make sure the other guy's car is significantly better than yours. ;) I care about my car, but I know the guy with the BMW cares more about his.

If someone is parked too far to the right, I don't park too far to the right to compensate - I always shoot for the middle of the spot. The guy that's there now might be close to the right side of his spot, but he'll probably leave before me and then some other guy will park there. And I don't want to force the guy next to me to park too far over in his spot. I park properly and I let everyone else do their thing.

i hate idiots who take up two spots. I too park really close to the curb (literally a few inches from the curb) at the very rear of the parking lot. Usually there's plenty of spaces open around where I park, mostly because all my coworkers are fat lazy slobs who would have a cardiac arrest if they had to walk the extra 20 or so feet. But whatever, works out better for me. But lately, there's been this douche who's been parking right on the line in the spot right next to me. WTF dude, move over one spot!

I love people like you. I'm the guy in the big half ton pickup who pushes a button to tilt my passenger side mirror in and then intentionally parks less than an inch away from your driver side door to force you to enter from the passenger side.

Yes, I realize you are probably trolling.

Edit: Added mirror snippet for good measure.

I do the exact same thing at my condo. Of course my asshole of a fuckstick neighbor decides to park on the line. I swear the asshole doesn't get the concept of parking between the lines, not on them.

He (and I can't prove it because I never see him do it, yet his is the only car next to mine) has the habit of denting/scratching my car. My old car was dent free until this fuckwad moved in. When I sold it, I had at least 30 dents/scratches all on the exposed side. My windshield was actually cracked at one point as well (no doubt it was him since i drive all of 4 miles to work on side roads with no trucks nearby).

Well, I got a new car and have been parking it in my numbered spot at my condo (of course the fuckhead neighbor has his assigned spot next to mine). I have been parking my wife's car in the corner spot.
Monday I noticed 3 new dents and car door ding marks. Tuesday, there were 4 new ones.

Now I park my car there first (wife's car this week). Only resident home at that time. I see all my neighbors get home. There are a good 10 empty spots with no other cars around and my neighbor has to park next to my car and park on the line for that matter. So, I know it is that asshole since he pulls in and the car is there all night. Next morning, the car is gone and there are dents.
He leaves for work at 6am sometimes. No one parks in that spot other than him.

Of course his car is a total piece of shit that is dented to hell, so he doesn't care. I don't get why he feels the need to mess with my car. I ask him politely in the past to please be careful when opening doors since i noticed a lot of new dents/scratches when he parks next to me. He proceeded to babble in polish. I know he speaks english, because I have heard him.

I don't want ot start an all out war since I have a new car and don't want him to trash it.

Suggestions? Asking didn't help. As a matter of fact, I think it made it worse since the dents have gotten bad the last couple days.
I'm tempted to take a screwdriver and punch a hole in his roof tonight around 1am when it is raining. But that is not my style. That will do nothing but escalate the situation and knowing my luck, the cops will randomly drive by and catch me.

I thought about getting a surveillance camera so I can catch him red handed. Not sure I want to drop the $300 for that though.

Man, I would already be in jail from killing that guy.

You HAVE to do something to get through to that idiot. Just reading that got me all hot and bothered.

Yea, my blood pressure has skyrocketed in typing and now re-reading it.

I can't allow it to happen, but I am not sure what to do.
Damaging his car will just result in him getting my cars.
Calling the cops on him and saying I saw him do it (slight white lie) is going to result in the same thing. More damage to my cars.

The problem is in the summer I am gone on weekends. My wife, child and I all head up to the family cottage Friday nights, returning Sunday nights.
That leaves one car, unattended at home. This prick will have all weekend to trash it. And he knows it.

So, what the hell do I do?

QFT

I'd already have a camera aimed at the car. You can get one for far less than the $300 he mentioned.

The problem is I live in a condo and my car is parked about 40 feet from my place.
And the dick does the damage at night/early morning. So, I would need a camera that has night vision.
Also, it would have to be a weatherproof camera since I would have to mount it on my balcony (great view to where my cars are parked).

I saw one camera online for about $190 that is weatherproof. I'd have to find some DVR software for it so I can record it to my computer...and then there is the interface problem (rca cable from camera).
