What is it like there? An opportunity could present itself to move there somewhere down the road and I'm just curious.

Been there to ski and snowboard, phenomenal slopes.

Not sure if I would live there, but the area is very beautiful.

I have cousins that live there. It's ~40 minutes from Salt Lake City, which is the closest airport, FYI.

Skiing is great there. Aforementioned cousins have season passes to Park City Ski Resort. I wish I lived there.

I live in the SLC valley and have been there many times. What info are you looking for?

The cost of living is higher in PC than in SLC.

Most of the restaurants in PC suck.

I was there for a boarding trip for a week, if you didnt want to spend an arm and a leg paying for food, the only alternative was to cafateria tasting gruel.

If the opportunity presents itself to move there, do it. It's a beautiful place full of so much to do.

Nothing tastes better after a day on the slopes than a $1.50 Bratwurst dog loaded with everything from a local 7-11. Trust me.

I live about 1 1/2 hours away and have been there several times. They have a really, really nice outlet mall there and obviously some good skiing. Very nice place, but it is a little more pricey that other surrounding areas, but you can easily commute there. Well, when it's not winter time anyway. Winter time commute is a little more tricky, but still not horrible.

So it seems close enough to live in SLC and work in PC. Do many people do that?

Awesome place to be if you're into the outdoors. Cold in the winter, hot in the summer. Low humidity.....overall good weather. (though snow storms can bring lots of bad road conditions...) Best snow in the country, possibly the world...just don't tell anyone.

Plenty of places to horseback ride, mountain bike, rock climb, hike, camp, ski, snowboard, etc... Not much night life....Park City itself is a cowboy type town that has become overpriced and touristy... I highly recommend sticking to SLC.

Sure.

Many do the reverse as well.

As mentioned, crossing Parley's Summit in the winter is not the most enjoyable endeavor.

It usually closes due to the weather a handful of times during the winter as well.

Personally, if I had the opportunity to work in Park City, I would definately live there. Since I'm working in Salt Lake, that's where I live. The commute is not something you want to do every day if you can prevent it.

Park City is a lot of different things, depending on the time of year. It's a yuppie town, a cowboy town, a ski bum town, an international town (everytime I go there I meet someone from europe or anywhere else for that matter), an artsy town, and it's just a regular normal town.

I might have an opportunity to vacation there early Nov. Will there be snow? Or will it just
be cold, no snow so nothing to do.

Family of four - two children 4 and 2 years old.

No snow, will just be cold (most likely). November is probably one of the worst months to visit.

Glad I brought the community together a lil. heh.

If any of you have kids, what do you think of the schools in Utah? Decent place to raise children? I know I can research much of this online, but I like hearing from people's minds as well as reading statistics on an area.

What else should one know that before moving there that they will most likely not find online?

Yeah no prob...unfortunately in November you miss the beautiful autumn colors and weather and are to early for the snow season.

Well the school's are regarded as typical public school quality, and the teacher pay here is one of the lowest in the nation, but that doesn't stop the majority of kids being excellent students and very smart. I went to school my entire life in Utah and I had some incredible teachers, most of which were teachers just because they loved it and they had 'real jobs' on the side.

I doubt you can find a better place in the country to raise children. The entire culture here is family oriented and neighborhoods are extremely tightly-woven.

I live in SLC and have been there a few times. All I know is that it has a lot of stores, ski resorts, and restaurants (?). I don't think I'd want to live there, but that's just me.

Really outdoorsy type people IMO if you wanted to live there. Lots of rich people, good slopes, etc. What would you be doing there?

Gotta watch out though...there's a LOT of Mormons there...and we KNOW about those Mormons and their many wives...Just watch "Big Love" on HBO...;)

LOL! I lived north of SLC for a couple of years, and did a lot of work in the PC area. Beautiful in the summer, cold & snowy in the winter, expensive as hell ALL YEAR LONG...
