Parhelia + UT2003 = 0wnage!

Gah, i was hoping to see some screenshots of it running in 3 monitor mode!

3 monitors + UT2003 = 0wnage

😛

Confused

Not bad, taking 2nd, only to the R9700. Though, why would you get a parhelia, when its priced at the same level as the R9700?

Stomped Nvidia though 😀.

Those scores = Unplayable in a real game.
For instance I get 65 in the botmatch, but watching the fps during a full blown match equates to about 35.
I can't imagine what the fps would be in a real game if your botmatch score was only 38.

Not to mention that the game is so fast, and you need a 300% enlargement of the screen to notice the FSAA+AF.

Wow, impressive. 🙂

Matrox didn't make the fastest overall card, but it has it's moments I guess. It has been unfortunately relegated to a niche product mainly due to price. However, if they can shrink the die, up the GPU core speed, and, seemingly most importantly of all, include some form of occlusion-culling, the Parhelia would be a very viable alternative. Of course, this is much easier said than done. However, I'm sure Matrox is working on all of these things for the next Parhelia based card. I remember when it was released there were rumblings that Matrox would have a pretty decent refresh on the Parhelia of Spring '03. 🙂

Anyway, AA isn't the most necessary feature when playing UT2k3 since it's hardly noticeable anyway. Oh well.

yes but thats keeping the radeon limited and possibly the other cards as well

at 3150mhz my 2.8 gets

flyby:205.509781 1024x768

botmatch: 74.224556 1024x768

flyby:163.396790 1290x960

botmatch:73.451904 1290x960

so it would have been better to show this on newer processors as well

As stated earlier, those flyby "benchmarks" mean absolutely nothing. Too bad there isn't a better, more accurate method to benchmark UT2k3. I get an idea of how my video card is doing just by keeping an eye on the fps stats.

i played the ut3 demo spread across three 18" sony flat panels via parhelia at my local puter parts supply and it totally rocked. even at 60 refresh it looked awesome. the experience is making me seriously consider duplicating the setup ('cept on crt's, of course). 🙂

I'm seriously thinking about getting the Parhelia. Why? Simple:

Linux-support. Ati's support is not so good, NVIDIA and Matrox has good support.

Image-quality. 2D of Parhelia is top-notch.

And I have heard that there is a new and improved revision of Parhelia on the pipeline. It should hit the markets soon. But if Ati can seriously improve their Linux-support, I mgith get the Radeon. If not, My choice is between Matrox and NVIDIA.

Maybe so, but those 3D images show obvious blurring all over the image.

I don't see it. Just about every review I have seen has said that Parhelia has top-notch image quality in 3D.
