parent Sylvia Gooden complained to the school board. She said many of the students ended up covered with the messy stuff.

Typical parent these days. Instead of being pissed at her and other kids skipping school, breaking the law, and throwing away their future, she gets mad at the school.

These are the same parents that will scream at a cop if he brings their kid home after screwing up.

Protesting laws against illegal immigration may be stupid, but how does it throw away their future?

Skipping school throws away your future. Thinking ANYTHING is more important than your education is throwing away your future.

Why they were skipping is irrelevant.

Amused while I agree with your statements, saying that education (and in this context, the classroom), is more important than anything a kid at that age could be doing, is a little extreme, and I tend to disagree with that.

But, not to get off topic, if the kids feel that supportive of it, fine. But, let them do it after school. The principal had every right to do what he wanted.

You're mistaken if you think missing a day or two of instruction in a public high school has any effect on your level of education.

Bah why would the principle get in trouble for greasing the fence. It is like person A leaving a pencil on the floor and gets in trouble for it, because person B stabbed himself with that pencil.
I bet half of those student really skipped for non protest resons, because everyone else was doing it.

It's not the day or two of education missed. It's the general idea that anything is more important than that education. It's the mindset that it's OK to skip school for anything other than illness or a loss in the family. This mindset carries over into the workplace when they grow up as well.

...the same parents who bitch and moan at the teacher when their kids get anything less than an A.
