I got one of the new slim PS2's a little while ago and every DVD I put in requires me to use my password to bypass the parental control. For some reason it will not let me bypass this parental control. I know when you have a DVD in, you hit select go to setup and then custom menu and under there is the parental control settings, but mine are whited out not blue like they should be. Therefor I can not change them. Is there any way around this?

Thank you for the brilliant insight, had I thought of that in the first place i would not have wasted all of your time. Oh wait I did think of that, I did read the manual and I even explained the exact steps that should be required to fix this, but it doesn't seem to work.

So now I am 13 and living with my parents. Nevermind with the help, I will go somewhere else to find my answers. I used to think this was a great forum but there are more and more Aholes joining.

It doesn't really matter anyway since if any of you knew the answer you would have posted it, all be it with your crticism as well, but you still would have answered, so your no more help then the manual was.

Page 10, if you say so. You must have one of the super secret manuals. But it does not matter any more, I have solved the problem. I want to thank everyone here for thier help, except for everyone that didn't help which is most of you. Can I ask one question though, what is the point of being an A$$. I mean if you knew the answer then tell me, if not then don't post. You guys are just a bunch of neffers.

The answer was actually on page 30 of the manual, which i had read, but it was not working correctly for me. So I had to figure it out for myself.

So, now you have it working? Seriously, though, if you think about it, why would Sony post the instructions in the manual on getting around this issue? The parents lock the PS2, then their child gets the manual out and reads how to unlock it. This sort of defeats the purpose of the lock.

Yeah I got it working, and I understand what your saying about them not putting it in the manual. It is in there, you still need the password to do it though, so the kids couldn't just bypass it. But if they are smart they can use the internet to find the 7444 code to reset it. The problem i was having is that you can't change the parental level while the disk is playing. So when it started and loaded the parental lock thing, I hit select and stopped it and then went to change it, but this didn;t work. So I finally continued on with the oplaying and then stopped it later and tried again and then it worked. So not only can you not do it while the disk is playing, you can't do it at the original parental lock screen even if the DVD is not playing. Thankfully i figured this out for myself, since it looks like nothing but a bunch of newbies in here tonight just neffing to build up thier post count.
