Drag me to hell was what a horror movie should be, this is just some cheap crap that will scare teenagers.

Wow, really? I just watched Drag me to hell the other night (which I was super psyched for) and thought it was garbage. I really liked paranormal activity on the other hand.

:( I tried to love DMtH.. I really tried so hard to forgive it's flaws.. But it was an instantly forgettable movie going experience

Hah, well my girlfriend is a huge horror fan and makes me watch pretty much every non B movie horror film ever made. Only 2 have ever really freaked me out, The Descent and Drag Me to Hell.

I liked the squeamish moments, and it was entertaining - but it didn't have me wondering what that sound in my house was, or making sure my doors are locked.. You know, that sort of horror that sticks with you for a few hours.

Really? Drag Me To Hell freaked you out? The only part remotely scary in it is when the weird wolf thing crashed through the window, but that ended very lamely. Quite a bit of stuff was bad silly (when she puked blood on her manager). The Descent was good because it really built the atmosphere well, although if you've read about it you'll find out that they actually have some bullshit what you saw wasn't true angle that is hinted at very slightly in the movie.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but none of the previews looked anything special, and the fact its being compared to the Blair Witch Project doesn't bode well for me thinking it has anything to really offer beyond people discussing if it was scary or just fucking stupid. The only reason that is any different than other horror movies is that it gets hyped up so more people go to see it.

I just saw this film and have to agree with the OP 100%, it was awful. Very disappointing. The first 1hr 20mins of the movie (which only runs 1hr 37mins) is nothing but 20 minute build up, 5 minutes of loud noises, repeat. I'm not kidding. Even the end was a total disappointment (I've seen both endings now, they both suck). This movie is not scary, I didn't jump once. I am disappoint.

The Blair Witch Project got my vote as worst movie ever made. 30 minutes into the movie I said to the people watching it with me "This movie is outright terrible" and they wanted to keep watching it. They finally agreed 30 more minutes later but finished watching it and said it was really really bad. Any movie that is set like that is also horrible.

This movie had me laughing during a couple of the parts. For instance, when micah looks behind the shower curtain for the demon. What kind of demon hides in the friggin' shower? And where did the demon get that picture of katie? Did it hold onto it during all this time in it's back pocket?

How did micah go to sleep so soundly on the final night, considering his girlfriend was just dragged along the floor during the previous one? Didn't he find it the least bit suspicious when she calmly explained her desire to remain at the house, factoring in her near comatose state leading up to that moment?

Overall it's still worth a watch. The attic scene was my favorite part of the movie (even with the dumb picture added in). I've read on some of the movie boards where people were disheartened with this part of the movie, as if they expected to see the demon in physical form. What made this scene good was the anticipation of what was up there, coupled with him scanning the attic for signs of the demon. The ending was a bit of a letdown. It was The Ring meets Blair Witch. I'll probably rent it to give it a second viewing when it's released on dvd.

I had an extremely hard time believing how they could fall asleep night after night after witnessing the horrific events night after night. You would think they would of at least tried getting a large dog to keep inside the house.

I saw this movie last night at work. Someone I work with bought it off one of those street sellers and brought it in. I don't condone piracy or buying it but I was bored and did not feel like getting up once it was put on.

The movie was a waste of a hour and a half. There were some parts that were creepy but not really scary. It was suspenseful to the point that I was just waiting for something to happen and when it did it wasn't eventful. There was like 20 minutes of good stuff and 70 minutes of crap. I'm also guessing the copy was a DVD Screener since I read online that there are two different endings. 5/10

No offense but I don't think any of these ideas would have made it a better movie, just a different and more conventional movie.

That's cool, glad you read it.

I actually thought this movie was very conventional. A ghost dragging her out of bed, demonic voiceover, a ouija board catching fire/scratching letters on the board, her cutting herself with a cross? All sucked IMO.

I think a pet would have been 10X scarier simply because many people have pets and they have human emotions/intelligence. There haven't been many movies out that have really captured the creepiness of a pet. But to each their own.

I mainly agree with Don Vito about your suggestions. I do agree the cross and ouija board were a little off to me.

The thing with the pet is pets easily explain away all the creepy noises you hear at night. My cats are always screwing things up at night. Plus, the main characters didn't really need an animals sixth sense of a pet to confirm their fears. Not to mention "boo its your cat!" is pretty much a horror movie cliche...which wouldn't fit with the format of the film anyway. (Non-paranormal events were simply fast forwarded through most of the movie)

I loved the powder and dragging. The dragging was the scariest part for me.

OMFG, THIS WAS HORRIBLE!!!

I hated this god damn movie. Do not waste your time on it.

EDIT: The ending I saw was the one where she gets killed by cops. I was like, "LOL COP OUT MOVE!!! ROFL..." It was so blatantly obvious, "Guns armed!"

What's the other ending?

Opinions are like assholes......everybody's got one.

I think it was a good movie. Not great, not perfect, but good.....In fact best movie I've seen in a long time and I really don't consider it a movie.

It was definitely like a mockumentary but achieved its purpose.

To those who watched it online, or on a pirate DVD or whatever....... not NEARLY as effective as in the theater.

SPOILER AHEAD --------------------------

On night 5 or 7 or whatever it was, the very first hardcore "thunk" wasn't just loud, you actually FEEL it in the theater. That goes a long way for me. Living in California, when those earthquakes that hit like a thunk and wake you from a cold dead sleep (think Northridge quake) a sound like that hits all too close and that's if there ain't even a freakin' demon in the house.

This movie has plenty of good scares (yes the dragging was f'ing freaky, powder not so much for me but slamming door, F-yes!) and a theater delivers the scares ten fold!!

I give it an A-
