It was hands down the scariest movie I've ever seen. No other horror movie has done what that movie has done to me. The movie theater was full at the start of the film and almost half the people left by the time it was done. One person started crying during the movie and ran out. The trailer is 1/10000th the scary level of the movie. If anyone is a big fan of horror movies I would high suggest this movie. It was excellent.

My coworker saw it and he had nightmares afterward. He highly recommended it to anyone who likes horror movies.

Some hear-say reviews I've seen on another forum.

Has anyone see Paranormal Activity ? Is it this good? I vaguely recall seeing a trailer for it (before the terminator 4 movie?) recently. Limited release so far but seems to be slowly expanding.

We shall use this thread since this is what searches will yield. I command it.

Anyway, like I said in the other thread, I hope it's more the mind-fvck scary and not the cheap sudden-noise scary. I may have to watch this after dvd release, in broad daylight with the sound really low. :D

Watching the trailer, it looked like a bunch of "loud noise scary" moments that made the people in the theater jump.

I'm not impressed so far. I'll wait for the blu-ray.

i was at the theater in madison when it was letting out and 7/10 of the crowd came out openly weeping. I'm not really into scary movies so I'm not sure if this is typical of the response from the audience, but I was shocked.

Pure ignorance. The flick has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews from a sampling large enough to be completely legitimate.

limited release movies and straight dvd movies are all crap or a big studio would snap them up and make money. only a handful does this not apply to.

While generally this is true this can't be said for every limited release movie. I can think of a bunch that break the rule.

In my very limited experience, I disagree. I saw The Ring and Ringu and thought The Ring was much better.

I'm also looking forward to this movie, but I'm a bit skeptical. The last decent creepy movie I saw was The Ring in 2002. Many other so-called "scary movies" have been made since then, but they weren't nearly as good.

Hopefully this one will be good.

it was good. very creepy. had goosebumps through a good portion of the movie. don't want to give away anything so I won't say much more than that. not a great movie, but definitely entertaining and worth the money.

oh, and I'm pretty sure this whole thing was just a marketing ploy. it will be have a nationwide release soon enough

Slayer, if you don't mind, I'd like a PM with some of the details. From the limited footage shown in the trailer, it didn't seem to be THAT scary.

On the other hand if a low budget release want to increase attention without increasing the money spent... they open in limited release and get a buzz going on about the movie.

Not showing up on search for some reason.

Saw it with the gf saturday night. It ended up being a slow gradual buildup that culminated in some definite intense scenes. People in the audience did the oo and gasp and ah and yelling.

I'd recommend it, try to avoid the trailer if you can. Apparently is getting a full nationwide release now. Pretty good marketing 'tactic.'
