I'm pretty sure it's *not* brute forced. What's more likely is that the password was keylogged, and it could have happened a very long time ago, they just used it now.

Never answer security questions with direct, honest answers. Pick the key word out of the question, and use a response that you will always associate with that word.

Or take a counterintuitive approach:

Q: "What city were you born in?"

A: "I'd like Chicken Recipes for $2000, please."
